This Lalanne’s exhibition covers 50 years of authentic and creative production and is set to remain on Versailles through October 10.
Les Lalanne at Trianon holds almost 60 works of art, and they will be taking the gardens of Versailles. Which includes the Grand Trianon, Petit Trianon, Queen’s Hamlet, and English and French gardens. Claude and Fraçois-Xavier did this in order to make a difference and they sure did! Both artists have numerous works, they have a unique style that defines inventive, poetic and surrealist sculpture.
Jean-Gabriel Mitterrand is the longtime dealer of the two artists and the chief organizer of the show. He said that “They have always worked in the tradition of the great French artists and decorators,”. At another point, he reflects: “[Trianon] is the beginning of romanticism and a new sensitivity to nature. The installation, [fittingly], is a romantic walk through the gardens.”
Most recently, Les Lalanne was the subject of a major retrospective at Les Arts Decoratifs in Paris. But also a large-scale public exhibition at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Their work took presence on New York’s Park Avenue and Getty Station. And in the sale of the collection of Yves Saint Laurent. Besides all of this, François-Xavier and Claude have major collections including the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York. The Museé Nationale d’Art Moderne/Centre Georges Pompidou, but also the Museé d’Histoire Naturelle in Paris.
