Aya Golf Club is the world’s coolest Golf Clubhouse and we are about to find out all about it. It has an 18h-hole course and has the hand of Greg Norman.
The Miami-based company Oppenheim Architecture wanted to stand out and do something different regarding Golf clubs. This is why they created the Ayla Golfclub, which belongs to the Ayla Oasis, a unique resort designed by Greg Normal. Chad Oppenheim said, “They ask for an iconic building, and we are turned off by this quest,”. So “… we had our focus on making a profoundly silent yet dramatic structure that integrates into the landscape. And that opens up to the surrounding mountains.”
The team fell in love with the fantastic location and the surrounding mountains. Oppenheim adds “The structure defines the volume and shape—everything becomes one.” In order to get this amazing project done, they had some Arabic design influence.
Aya Golf Club has specific screens with Jordanian motifs that provide light, but at the same time, they keep privacy. Chad said that everything had been done with one machine that pumps cement. All the rest was made by hand, by people who never worked on a project like this.
This construction is the reflection of humans, of working people, of craftspeople. Soul and character are the pillars of this project because of what I said before. The involvement of everyone was essential to put an end to this project.
To conclude, Chad Oppenheim said, “We feel this building is constructed with the land, not on the land,”. “This brings the users of the golf club and academy closer to an experience that connects them deeply with nature, heightening their surroundings of the landscape around.”
