KRAK Architects are responsible for this Cretan residence. It has a minimal and futuristic vibe that we are going to find out.
“Casa Katana”, by KRAK Architects is engraved in the southern Cretan landscape in Greece. This unique building has its inspiration in the morphology of the plot and the characteristics of the site. That includes the climate conditions, the rock formations, the orientations, and the sweeping views.
They fully integrate the residence into the landscape. It looks like the mark of a sharp cut from a katana sword, the reason behind the name.
All components have a design according to a dynamic, in concern of the northwest winds. KRAK Architects, also gave an aerodynamic for to this house, taking a natural inclination towards the east.
Here we can find an earth-color palette. The basic material, colored concrete mixture composed of local aggregates. The surface has the palette of the landscape and the texture of the rocks. This happened to provide durability, minimum possible maintenance, and low embodied energy.
