The Dutch actress and singer known for her “Red Woman” character on one of the most acclaimed shows of all time, Games of Thrones. Although, Carice’s house is far from being monochromatic. Her family home expresses eclectic and warm pinks vibes enlightened by a pastel rainbow palette chosen to the space.

At Game of Thrones, the artist interprets a fierce priestess in red. But, in real life, she loves a pleasing plethora of bold colors.

Atelier Nd, Nicole Dohmen

Nicole Dohmen, born and raised in the southern Dutch province of Limburg, moved in 2000 to Amsterdam, where she is currently living with her husband, two children, and two stepchildren. After being asked multiple times by friends to design their houses, and many years of experience rebuilding homes, it was only in 2018 that she finally became a full-time interior designer.

Her style is everything but boring. Categorized for being warm, personal, and always on edge, she is known for the ability to make every house authentic with a plethora of colors and prints. Besides the fact that she does not have a formal education in interior design, her style has been developed consistently creative and made her eager for knowledge and find inspiration worldwide.

The actress from Games of Thrones and her partner, the Australian actor Guy Pearce, bought a property near Amsterdam just before the Covid pandemic. The couple aimed for stability and confessed the desire to create some roots since their son would soon reach school age.

Regarding the process, slowly, piece by piece, Carine Van Houten started putting her vision into reality, and to do so, she was requested to rearrange the floor plan and enlarge the windows.

After visiting, Nicole Dohmen’s shop Atelier ND in Downtown Amsterdam, the interpreter from Game of Thrones realized that together with the interior designer, they could be the perfect match, and they should team up to create a home full of joy and maximalism but still harmonious.

The intensity might vary from rosy white to a deep aubergine although the pink overrules any other pigment in the color candy pad. Not only isn’t she a big fan of monochromatic environments, but also likes to innovate, and in her house is present a lot of maximalist and unexpected combinations of patterns. The interior designer, Nicole Dohmen and the star from Game of Thrones not only design rooms with maximalist floral wallpapers, graphic curtains, sculptural lamps, but also Memphis, zingy, and furniture design.
